"I'm For Doug"

I joined Doug’s campaign because of his passion for Vermont. Doug is honest, he is fair, and he has a deep and abiding sense of purpose and conviction.
Most importantly, Doug is a fighter. For over 30 years, Doug has gone to bat for all Vermonters.
His dedication and determination aren’t just lip service or a slickly produced ad on the local news; Doug stands up for those who need a voice in the statehouse.
He has never wavered on the key issues: providing universal health care, maintaining equal benefits and opportunities for citizens of all orientations, fighting to protect the environment, and making sure that all of Vermont’s children receive quality education from birth through college.
Doug is the best candidate for Vermont because he doesn’t just talk the talk, he gets things done. Doug follows through on his promises, and has an unmatched record of leadership. He has worked across the aisle to forge consensus and put Vermonters first, standing up for his values rather than taking the easy road out.
Doug believes in Vermont, and as governor, he will work tirelessly to ensure that our great state can reach its full potential.
Put simply, Doug delivers.
Across the state, Vermonters have joined our campaign because they believe in Doug’s vision, his leadership, and his character. I hope you’ll join us too as we work toward a even brighter future.
Chuck Piotrowski, Wallingford
Sometimes you have to say “yes.” For so many years the governor’s office has simply said “no” to innovation, effective business policy, equal rights, child-friendly results-driven education, and environmental stewardship. Doug has the knowledge, skill, fortitude and desire to say “yes.” Yes, we can take care of our sick and needy , treat each other with respect and dignity, help each other out when times are tough, and ask those who can to give a little more in these historically tough times. He says “yes” to solutions and has the guts to try to succeed when others take the easy path of saying “no” because they are frozen by their lack of ingenuity, fear of failure, and poor leadership. As a firm believer in the redoubtable American spirit and Vermont sensibility, I am saying “yes” and voting for Doug Racine.

Only some of the many reasons that I support Doug for Governor……….
I think that Doug has a broad field of expertise, in government, in business, in natural resources, energy, education, health care, and more. I appreciate that he has a diverse background.
When we were walking around together, I observed Doug looking people in the eye and taking time to really listen to them talk about what they were doing and what their concerns were. He asked them questions and showed his genuine interest. Doug then thought about how many of these people could use their skills on a wider scale to help the State of Vermont. I like how he interacts with people.
I recently saw Doug deal with a very unfair situation. He dealt with it by finding an alternative solution without getting angry. I like that he could do this so even-handedly.
Doug seems comfortable in his own skin, joyful, thoughtful, wise, honest, caring, genuine, and optimistic about the future of Vermont and Vermonters. I like that he is enjoying this campaign and meeting the people all over Vermont.
I find Doug to be a wise man who can skillfully navigate the maze of government. The new health care law is an example of this ability.
Having been raised in a union family, I am delighted that Doug has union endorsements. Doug supports both business and workers.
And Doug won the race with Dubie in 2000 by a significant percentage. I really like that!
Dave Nelson, Newbury
Leadership is not only knowing what is the right thing to do, it is having the guts and backbone to do it. I have known Doug and followed his career since ‘98, and I have never seen him back down from a fight. That fight has always been on the side of the working families of Vermont, and also those most vulnerable amongst us, the disabled, the elderly and the poor. While I watch Doug’s competitor’s scramble to claim the “middle/moderate” title, and run from their former positions, Doug remains true to his values and his conscience. Vermont will not only have a competent and effective chief executive when Doug is elected Governor, they will have a man they can be proud of and trust.
Elizabeth Skarie, Williston
I’m supporting Doug Racine because he has spent his life championing the causes that are important to me and, I think, to most Vermonters. Whether it’s quality education, health care for everyone, environmental protection, fair taxation or equal rights for all Vermonters, Doug has fought, and will continue to fight, to improve our state and the lives of our citizens. I really admire Doug’s candor, his forthrightness and his political courage. We are fortunate to have a candidate of his caliber running for governor and I look forward to voting for him in the primary and in the general election.
Jill Charbonneau, Middlebury
Being financially embarrassed is nothing new to Vermonters, nor is making do with what you have got. The campaign for Governor and the whole election process 2010 is a great chance to buy Vermont first, not with slick glossy campaign ads but with real Vermont dollars and sense. Let’s use good sense and invest campaign dollars in Vermont businesses and spend our time giving Vermonters a real life opportunity to know the candidate and issue positions as they affect the day to day lives of constituents. Doug Racine represents an incredible opportunity for Vermonters to use their renowned ingenuity and lead ourselves to prosperity without excessive pomp and circumstance but with hard work and clear minded thinking. Doug’s leadership will make all the difference
Paul Myers, Peru
Doug has all the right qualifications to win the governorship and lead Vermont into a position of national leadership. Although we’re fortunate to have so many good Democratic candidates, Doug is clearly the best one.
Connie Stabler, South Burlington
Doug cares for the people who need our help the most. He has worked tirelessly for improved mental health care systems in Vermont. He knows that recovery is possible when treatment is available.
Nicole Mace, Winooski
I support Doug for Governor because he is committed to public policies that make Vermont a state that works for everyone: strong public schools, livable wage jobs, access to affordable health care and safe housing.
Donna Packard, Retired RN, Essex Junction
I support Doug for Governor because he is perfect for the job. Doug has worked for years to represent the values that Vermont stands for, especially advocacy for the powerless and health care.

Lynn Bohi, former State Rep, Hartford
“In a field of impressive candidates for Governor this year, I have chosen Doug Racine because he is bright, honest, kind, thoughtful, and quiet. His past contributions as a public servant show that he is a unifier who is much more interested in doing what is best for Vermont than getting his name in the paper.”
